Plot : The world of fashion has a lot more to itself than what simply meets the eye. Lives of splendor and glory successfully cover up realities harsh enough to taint and destabilize their public view. As a genius designer and the royal couturier of an entire kingdom of fashion, Yves Saint Laurent had managed to inspire four decades of style. Yet, today, very little is known about the private life of this fashion prodigy. Pierre Berge, being the man who spent forty years of his life with him, is a witness to their relationship of love and life. In 2001, the French president, Jacques Chirac awarded the rank of Commander of the Legion d’ Honneur and the year 2002 had the designer shifting into the life of a recluse with his French Bulldog Moujik. The plot of this documentary film revolves around an exquisite and personal collection of art that was organized by the designer and Berge, over a number of years. The personal life of the designer did contain the highest levels of style, extravagance and sophistication but, somehow, he couldn’t do a lot of justice to his relationships, driven by a strange drive and a passion for the same sex. With an appropriate amount of light being shed on his relationship with Berge, the plot promises to meet up to the expectations of the judges at the Toronto and Tribeca Film Festivals. Watch Yves Saint Laurent online to come to terms with the strange yet passionate existence of this artist who, like every over-worked creative soul, chooses isolation as the most viable solution.
