Plot : Adapted from the novel “Winter’s Bone” by Daniel Woodrell, the movie has been written and directed by the award-winning movie maker Debra Granik. Winter’s Bone tells the tale of an Ozark mountain dweller, Ree Dolly, who, at the young age of 17, is confronted with her father’s absence, along with the responsibility of taking care of her mother, who’s mentally ill. She tries to somehow manage living with her mother in the village, until, one day; the Sheriff visits their home, only to worsen her condition. She gets the shock of her life upon discovering that she, along with her mother, would have to vacate the house if her father does not turn up in a week for an ongoing trial. Well, aware of her father’s drug business, she sets out on a search to find him, making her way through the horrible realms of drug trade. Ree does not lose hope and determination, even when her uncle tries to convince her that her father may have been probably killed. Not bothering a bit about the threat that her own life faces, the girl is shown to be hell bent on ending her search for her father with either finding him, or getting a confirmation of his death. The remarkably success of the movie helped it in bagging several awards, which include the Grand Jury Award at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
