Plot : “Vincere” is a historical biography directed by Marco Bellocchio. The story of this heart-rending tale is based on the life history of first wife of Benito Mussolini. The flick revolves around a couple, who initiates their illicit love affair in 1914. The lady Ida Dalsar (Giovanna Mezzogiorno) is a beauty saloon owner and her boyfriend Mussolini (Filippo Timi) is a distressed young social activist. Ida is so madly in love with her beau that she decides to sell all her possessions, to provide funding for her lover’s newspaper. Then there arises an era of dictatorship. Vincere video depicts the efforts Ida puts-in to help her boyfriend and how her selfless love makes her the victim of cruelty. The duce treats her, in such a bad manner, throughout this dark drama, that while watching it, your heart would start crying for Ida. This lady is forced to suffer physical torture and is also abused a number of times. Then, after all this maltreatment, there appears a new character Michela Cescon (Rachele Guidi) in the flick. Ida gets in touch with Michela and takes her last breath in asylum after giving birth to her lover’s first baby.
