Plot : Throw Down Your Heart is a documentary film directed by Sascha Paladino. It follows the world renowned banjo player and musician, Béla Fleck on his journey to Africa to record an album as well as investigate about the African roots of the banjo, which are not known to many people. The camera follows Béla as he learns about the history of the instrument and also collaborates with native musicians. The journey takes Béla across Gambia, Mali, Tanzania and Uganda, where he meets with historians and musicologists. Béla also takes advantage of the opportunity to make music with artists from all walks of life. He makes music with people ranging from world music stars like Bassekou Kouyate and Oumou Sangare to ordinary people, who share his passion of making music. The documentary also provides a bird’s eye view of the beauty and complexity of Africa.
