Plot : The Winning Season is a sports comedy movie, directed by James C. Strouse. The Winning Season revolves around Bill, whose character is played by Sam Rockwell. He is a divorced man and has a daughter from a marriage that has already broken. However, he hardly cares about his daughter Molly (Shana Dowdeswell) and never even makes the effort to visit her. In short, he has no good relationships in his life and he is wasting his life, because of his habits of drinking. He has a good friend in his life in Terry (Rob Corddry), who is working as a principal at a high school. Terry helps him in getting a job at the basketball team that comprises the high school girls. He is asked to coach the girls of the team and make them good enough for competitions. He does not realize how difficult the task is going to be, until he meets up with the girls. Now, meet the girls in the team - Kathy (Emily Rios), Abbie (Emma Roberts), Mindy (Melanie Hinkle), Lisa (Shareeka Epps), Wendy (Rooney Mara) and Tamra (Meaghan Witri). These girls are the worst players ever and they make the job of Bill truly difficult. With the girls coming on line, they also try to simplify the life of Bill, by guiding him on how to save his relationship with his daughter. It would be interesting to see whether the girls succeed in winning the match, as well as solving the problems of their lives.
