Plot : Symbolic of fast emerging female-power in the world of rock music, The Runaways (an all-girl rock band) dished out several smash-hit albums between 1975 and 1979. This movie is dedicated to the mercurial rise of this band and the changing equation of relationship between its members. The seed for the formation of ‘The Runaways’ was sown in 1975 by teenager Joan Larkin’s dream to bring forth an all-girl rock group. She reveals her dream to a seedy manager, Kim Fowley, who gets her the company of a drummer. Thereafter, he chalks out extensive plans to complete this band. His efforts bring him to fifteen-year old Cherie Currie, a hot-looking teenager, whose enrapturing persona matches his purpose perfectly. Luck shines on him, since along with being extremely charming, this girl can sing as well. With two more additions, the band is all ready to meet the public-eye. Now, Kim has no time for himself, as he fixes a tour for the girls, gets them a deal with the Mercury Records and sends them to showcase their talent in drowned-in-anticipation Japan. Things take an ugly turn, after Kim invites enhanced publicity for the attractive Cherie, thereby triggering the brewing of conflicts among the band members. Soon Cherie finds herself being dragged towards addiction and an atmosphere of jealousy takes over the air of companionship.
