Plot : The Prestige is a sci-fi thriller movie set in the beginning of twentieth century. It depicts how a small rivalry can have disastrous consequences. The movie revolves around Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman), his wife Julia (Piper Perabo) and Alfred Borden (Christian Bale) who work as assistants to a magician. While performing a water task Julia drowns and dies under mysterious circumstances. Angier suspects Borden’s carelessness to be behind her death. He thinks that Borden might have tied an extra knot while she was performing the predicament escape. This turns these two friendly assistants into enemies. Angier starts performing as ‘The Great Danton’ with his assistants Cutter and Olivia. On the other hand Borden becomes ‘The Professor’ and hires Fallon as his engineer. During one of Borden’s performances an enraged and disguised Angier shoots at him leading him to lose his fingers. Seeking revenge Borden also spoils one of Angier’s performances, which damages his reputation. As this tit for tat goes on they become enemies of life. The rivalry intensifies turning them into murderers which has dire results for them as well as people around them.
