Plot : Directed by Augusta Palmer, The Hand of Fatima is a documentary about her as a neglected daughter, who was abandoned when she was just a toddler. She marks her odyssey to search for her father’s (Robert Palmer) illumination and bliss in the world of music as he was an unsurpassed music writer. He was the creator of Deep Blues, wrote for Rolling Stone, and was the first to become a full-time rock-critic at none other than New York Times. Her voyage to know her father more closely begins from Mississippi and ends at Morocco. Her expedition makes her meet Master Musicians of Jajouka- the Sufi band, which is more than 1000-years-old, and played a significant role in her father’s career. The USP of this movie lies in the fact that it is a perfect blend of both contemporary and historical images, showcased through both animation and usual picture format. As you watch The Hand of Fatima online, you will encounter a tale of family history jam-packed with music and spirituality, which makes it a league apart from the hackneyed flicks. This documentary has all the elements of entertainment; the best being its theme, which has hues of both music and mysticism.
