Plot : The Golden Door is an audacious fantasy drama directed by Emanuele Crialese. This movie throws light on the turn of the 20th Century, when the poor Mancuso family (lead by the widowed Salvatore, Vincenzo Amato), from Sicily, Italy, relocates to the United States. Before reaching there, they think of the land of openings, where giant vegetables are grown, people swim in milk, and coins fall from the sky. Salvatore takes his family, his elderly mother, Fortunata (played by Aurora Quattrocchi) as well. At the same time as on the ship to U.S, many men find the British Lucy (played by Charlotte Gainsbourg) eye-catching.
