Plot : The English Surgeon, a documentary directed by Geoffrey Smith, takes a look into the life of Dr. Henry Marsh, a British neurosurgeon. Dr. Marsh created an operational surgery center from ramshackle remains of a Ukrainian hospital. When Henry first arrived at the hospital in the 1990’s, he was taken back to see the dreadful state of affairs in which he found the hospital as well as its patients. Henry then made up his mind to build a medical facility where the patients got at least got hope. With this intention, he started assembling medical equipment, progressively bestowing the chance of being able to have life saving procedures to those who suffered from injuries and tumors. As the make do hospital is flooded by patients, Henry treats them with makeshift equipment, and limited facilities, while also confronting moral and ethical issues at the same time. The film also showcases the awe-inspiring predicaments that Henry he has to face, as well as the inconvenience he has to bear throughout his profession.
