Plot : The Army of Crime, which is extremely popular as L'armée du crime (French), is a war film directed by Robert Guediguian. The film is based on the era, when the Nazis had captured France and when the Resistance movement had begun. Missak Manouchian, a poet of Armenian origin, sets aside his ideals of offering his own life for help, and leads a group of 22 men and a woman, as they gear up to attack the German invaders. Their commendable daredevilry is so magnificently portrayed in the film that on watching it you get an insight into what it takes to become revolutionaries and attempt to drive foreign intruders out of your motherland. The movie moves on to show how the group assassinates an SS general, and how the German capital, Berlin, is sparked up by the news of the killing of the official. The Army of Crime, which won the Étoiles d'Or award, drives its title from the fact that the crimes that the group indulged in were aimed at rescuing France from the German rule, in the same way as an army protects its country at the border.
