Plot : Thank You for Smoking is a satirical comedy about smoking, though it only comes to it indirectly. The movie revolves around the life of chief spokesperson and lobbyist Nick Taylor. Being the Vice President of the Academy of Tobacco Studies (Tobacco Institute) he has the difficult task of promoting Cigarette smoking in the times when health hazards are quite common. This academy funded by cigarette companies has the purpose to research links between cigarette smoking and lung cancer. As expected, it doesn’t find any connection between them. Thus now Nick’s work is to declare these results and to promote smoking. With his talent in speaking with arguments and twisted logics, he is able to project his motive successfully. His rival is Vermont's Senator Ortolan Finistirre who uses skulls and bones in the cigarette packs and defends the senate. He is not so successful in his personal life. His son Joey lives with his mother. He works very hard to make him understand his philosophy and believe in it. When on a business trip with his son, a reporter Heather Holloway cheats on his trust by disclosing her and Nick’s sexual relations, could rain havoc on his world.
