Plot : Crafted by Errol Morris, Tabloid is an interesting documentary, which explores a topic that might seem weird to some. The film brilliantly weaves a true story, which examines love, but in a very different way. The movie talks about what happens, when love dons the attire of obsession; an attire that can be seductive and aggressive at the same time. Joyce McKinney, the then Miss Wyoming, was a beautiful woman, who in her teenage years, moved from the Midwest. Thereafter, she fell in love with a man, who was a Mormon missionary named Kirk Anderson. Being a Mormon, he was called by the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints. The Mormon missionaries are supposed to go around spreading the faith and making others understand about it. Kirk Anderson was called for the same purpose and sent to England. A heartbroken Joyce McKinney couldn’t take it and decided to leave for England to meet her lover. Reaching there, she took Anderson from a LDS meeting to a secluded cabin, where she tried to seduce him. Joyce’s obsession takes her on a journey, which is filled with court room drama and much media attention. Watch Tabloid online and you get to see the story from Joyce’s side, which she shares quite vividly. The film includes interview sessions with Joyce, in which she shares the intimate details of her life. It is these very details, which later become ‘The Case of the Manacled Mormon.’ Catch this documentary to witness the dark side of love!
