Plot : Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Sugar is a sports drama that revolves around the life of a Dominican baseball star Miguel "Sugar" Santos (Algenis Perez Soto), who is a talented pitcher and dreams of getting a place in a Major League American Baseball team so that he can support his impoverished family. Miguel struggles his way through the minor leagues first and is received with open arms by the inhabitants of the small town of Iowa. However, despite the love showered on him by the strangers, he feels uncomfortable due to the language and cultural barriers he faces. Later as his once-trusty arm becomes unreliable, the single minded Miguel is forced to re-evaluate the ambition of his life and question his role in the world in which he lives.
