Plot : Written by Mark Weisbrot and Tariq Ali, South of the Border is director Oliver Stone’s attempt at throwing light on the not so popular regions of South American. This is done to get to know what their opinion about Hugo Chavez and about the role of the US in influencing their regions is. The movie also brings to you, unknown facts about the Bolivarian Revolution and its impact on the political scenario, which is completely unknown to a majority of people, across the world. The documentary sheds light on how the American and European media misleads people into developing unreal interpretations about the region. The movie was first showcased at the 66th Venice International Film Festival in the year 2009 and has, since then, received an extremely positive critical reception. Stone’s attempt to show the world, the true picture of the Venezuelan President is truly praiseworthy.
