Plot : Somers Town, a comedy drama directed by Shane Meadows, is a study of London’s social atmosphere, filmed in black-and-white. Tomo (Thomas Turgoose), after turning 16 is no longer constrained by parental care and so moves out to London, looking for a better life. While traveling through Somers Town, Tomo befriends Marek (Piotr Jagiello), a Polish immigrant living with his drunkard father. Marek is a quiet and sensitive boy who cherishes a rising interest in photography and invites Tomo to live in their apartment, which his father fails to notice. The two friends spend their days making money from their weird neighbor and roaming the streets. They develop an infatuation for Maria (Kate Dickie), a beautiful French waitress working in a neighboring café. But Maria suddenly disappears leaving the two boys feeling lost. They decide to drown their sorrows in a drink. But Marek’s father realizes that Tomo shares their apartment and throws him out, putting the growing bond of friendship between the two boys, to the ultimate test.
