Plot : Snow Flower and The Secret Fan is the story of an everlasting friendship, which survives everything, ranging from busy lifestyles to social cultures. The story focuses on two childhood buddies, Snow Flower and Lily, who are both 7 years old and live in China. Amidst the hostile behaviour of the Chinese towards women, they battle against all odds to establish the most amazing and everlasting story of friendship that the world has ever known. In their attempt to do so, they develop an encoded way of communication, following which; they are able to reach out to one another. The movie dates back to the time when women in China were ill-fated, because of their confinement to the four walls of their homes. They were only able to get a sneak peek of the outside world from their windows. Kept far away from enlightenment that education could provide them, the movie captures their struggle in the best possible way. It is in this era that the two friends, Snow Flower and Lily, with the help of this communication tool, strive to keep their friendship alive until the end of time. The movie is an adaptation of a novel of the same name by writer Lisa See. The movie portrays the bond between the two friends as that of partners who bond in a way even stronger than the bond that a couple share.
