Plot : Rise speaks out the story of the history and evolution of American figure skating in the last few decades. This film is a tribute to the U.S. figure skating team of 1961 that met a tragic end during a plane crash before participating in The World Championship. The purpose behind the making of Rise is to offer fond remembrance to these skating veterans. The movie has been funded by the American Figure Skating Fund, and talks about the beauty of this sport. The movie inculcates excerpts from the lives of several skating celebrities. It also showcases some of the most memorable and medal-winning performances by skating maestros. The screenplay is so simple and informative, that even a non-skater or someone who has little interest in this sport, is bound to get inspired by it. There are also moments when you will need to pull out tissues to wipe off your tears, specially the scenes in which the family members of the figure skaters, who lost their lives in the 1961 aircraft disaster, talk about the unfulfilled dreams of the champions. But as the tagline of the movie rightly conveys, “Some dreams end in order to give birth to others.” This, precisely, is the message that the movie Rise endeavors to give to all viewers and aspiring skaters across the world.
