Plot : Rebirth of a Nation, is a documentary directed by DJ Spooky that was originally custom-made as a live, multi-media performance. The director, however, recreated the original film that focused on the events that occurred during and after the American Civil War. The original film had been marred by controversy for handling of white supremacy and its positive portrayal of the Ku Klux Klan. DJ Spooky has remixed the original in his own unique way to make it in the form of the documentary which narrates its true meaning about the sociopolitical disputes being encountered by America in the early-21st Century. The documentary deliberately challenges our heritage of revisionist history and at the same time also deconstructs a contentious classic. The director utilizes his skills as a DJ to pulverize music and film techniques and using the original film as a moral outline, draws remarkable similarities between the socio-political discord that was faced by the populace during era of the American Civil War as well as the present times.
