Plot : This film talks about a real life instance that rocked for quite a while, kick starting an altogether new debate in the 1970s. Nim was a chimpanzee, chosen as the subject of an experiment that churned out startling conclusions. Watch Project Nim online and behold the life of a chimp that was taken away from its mother, immediately after its birth. A family of nine that resided in New York was entrusted with its care. What was the objective of such a wacky experiment? Those who were a part of it wanted to delve into the intricacy of a chimp’s mind, for chimps are often regarded as the ancestor of humans. An attempt was made to unravel the fact that chimps can communicate in the language of humans, if reared like a human child. Though the experiment did yield substantive conclusions on sign language, those who participated in the experiment were affected more than they could anticipate. For the very notion that a baby is being separated from its mother right after birth sounds cruel, and defies all logic. The film brings forth the fate of those, who witnessed Nim going through the vicissitudes of time and its impact on their own lives.
