Plot : Like a ghost, she wanders amongst us all. Unseen by many and heard by no one, she lives alone; she is Lilith. In a world where there is no threat of destruction, of nuclear fallout; in a world that has nothing left to threaten, nothing left to destroy, she wanders in search of hope. Population 2 manages to do what so many films in the post-apocalyptic genre have failed to do; to bring some sort of poetic justice to a world destroyed by the greed of its own inhabitants. The movie tells the story of world destruction through the eyes of Lilith, the lone survivor, trudging through the ruins during daytime, retreating to her underground residence in the nights. She reminisces about the past, the past that has deceived her. The story of apocalypse in this movie is weaved from two points – one focuses on Lilith’s past, and the other focuses on her solitary confinement on the planet. Through her eyes, the viewers are able to recollect the series of unfortunate events that led to the present scenario. How mankind incurred the wrath of Mother Nature in a rush to become superpower, how nations contributed to their own demise – it tells it all. Many movies have been made on this topic and many more will be made, but Population 2 takes the viewers on the route less traversed, but more enjoyable.
