Plot : Oh Vey! My Son Is Gay is a romantic and inspirational family comedy that features a Jewish family in its struggle to accept their son’s coming out. Shirley Hirsch (Lainie Kazan) is very desperate to see her son Nelson marrying a nice Jewish girl. On every Friday night she invites a new female for Sabbath dinner hoping that Nelson will end up with one of them. One day when his mother and father set him up on another of those dates, Nelson declares that he was already seeing someone. This excites Martin and Shirley to see the lucky girl who their son was dating.Raging with curiosity one day Shirley stops by Nelson’s apartment. There she is greeted by his live-in boy friend Angelo Ferraro. Hiding his true identity Angelo introduces himself as Nelson’s interior designer. There she also meets Nelson’s neighbor Sybil who she assumes to be her son’s girl friend. Though not a Jewish she was ready to accept her son’s choice. The story takes a sharp turn when at a family wedding where Angelo brought him as a guest, Nelson comes out to his parents. Now the startled family has to find a solution to this.
