Plot : Orphan, a thrilling horror mystery drama directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, tells the tale of a couple whose adoptive daughter displays a devilish streak that is beyond their wildest imagination. The tragic miscarriage of Kate (Vera Farmiga) threatens to ruin not only her marriage to John (Peter Sarsgaard) but also her sensitive mind. To bring their life back on track, the couple decides to adopt a child. Later, while visiting the local orphanage they are surprisingly drawn to a 9-year-old girl named Esther. However, soon after welcoming Esther into their home, the couple faces a number of disturbing events, making Kate feel sure that all is not well with Esther. Kate begins to doubt her seemingly angelic adopted daughter and starts feeling anxious about the safety of her family. She then tries desperately to make John and others see beyond Esther’s innocent face, but her pleas fall on deaf ears. When finally she is taken seriously, it might already be too late to prevent the occurrence of a devastating tragedy.
