Plot : Objectified, a documentary directed by Gary Hustwit, is about the complex relationship we have with manufactured objects and thus indirectly with the people who manufacture them. Almost all of us have become used to using numerous things that are a result of industrial design, without ever trying to understand how they get the look and feel that they have. We never think that the design of these things is related with our own ideas and beliefs about value and functionality. Though we never contemplate about it, but the designing of objects used in everyday life, is significantly decided by mass psychology and the way it crisscrosses with business. Objectified explores the indefinable world of industrial design and the relations people have with the objects they've brought into their lives. The film showcases interviews with a number of key designers who reveal how products move from the drawing board to the marketplace and what inspires the look, feel and working of the everyday things in your home.
