Plot : Not Quite Hollywood: The Wild, Untold Story of Ozploitation, a documentary directed by Mark Hartley, tells about the Australian New Wave of 1970s and '80s that emphasized on low-budget cinema. In 1971, when the R-certificate was introduced in the Australian movie world, the censorship regime transformed from being repressive to being progressive and this was done virtually overnight. This one change in the Australian cinema led to a cultural explosion and gave birth to arthouse classics and showed the world a full-frontal outburst of sex, violence, horror and foot-to-the-floor, full bore action dominated movies. The director takes the viewers on a journey through that unjustly forgotten cinematic era of Australian cinema which is considered vulgar and offensive by critics and film historians and is often excluded from Australia's official film history. The documentary that tries to explore movies which were boldly full of boobs, pubes, tubes... and even a little kung fu, consists of shocking anecdotes, lessons in radical filmmaking and an authentic, contagious love of Australian movies.
