Plot : Charlotte 'Charlie' Cantilini (Jennifer Lopez) finds her Prince Charming, Kevin Fields (Michael Vartan) after years of searching. But Kevin’s mother, Viola (Jane Fonda) deliberately comes in between their relationship and wants to scare off Charlie. The reason behind her behavior is that she has been recently fired from her beloved job of a newscaster, and replaced by someone younger. All her pent up feelings are fired towards Charlie. She feels that she might lose her son if Charlie marries him, and so wants her out of her son’s life. She becomes the worst mother-in-law of the world or in other words, as the movie name suggests, monster-in-law. She decides to make such a plan that Charlie becomes crazy and cancels the wedding. She is helped in her crazy schemes by her assistant Ruby. But Charlie is not a loser and decides to fight all the way with her would-be-mother-in-law. On the wedding day, Viola’s mother-in-law appears and they start arguing with each other. Observing this, Charlie cancels the wedding.
