Plot : Directed by Gus Van Sant, Milk is the biographical drama about the events in the final decade of the life of Californias first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk. The movie traces the events that occurred in the life of the ill-fated politician and gay activist from 1972 to his death in 1980. Milk (Sean Penn) moved to San Francisco in 1972 to be near his lover Scott Smith (James Franco), and then he entered politics after becoming an activist for gay rights. Milk and his adversary Dan White (Josh Brolin) both won the elections for the city council and the rest of the movie focuses on their relationship until Dan assassinated Milk along with Mayor George Moscone (Victor Garber).
