Plot : Directed by Jean-Pierre Melville, Leon Morin Priest is a drama flick set in a small French town, during the Nazi occupation. Barny, a young widow living with her daughter France is a sexually frustrated, unruly woman who does not believe in God and has decided a long time ago that the best way is the one that is the easiest. Being an atheist, she one day starts criticizing the religion, in front of a randomly chosen priest, in a church. However, the young, handsome and clever priest turns out to be Leon Morin, who believes that a good measure of faith can obliterate any sin. Barny is disturbed by the fact that the priest does not react in the way she was expecting him to. Impressed by the priest’s moral strength and Barny starts meeting him frequently, while Leon takes it upon himself to bring her back onto the path of righteousness.
