Plot : Religion is not always a factor that divides and Le Chant des Mariees gives us glimpses of the same. The picture captures two young ladies, going through a terrible ordeal, in a setting that is in the year 1942. Nour and Myriam have run the same roads as kids in Tunis, and have grown into young girls with a hope of a better future in their eyes. While Nour was born as a Muslim, Myriam has Jewish origins. Pleasant days become a memory, when their homeland comes under the control of the Axis forces. Their lives alter into a living nightmare, when the effects of a foreign occupation start showing up. Nour is about to be married to Khaled, but German authorities thwart their road to happiness, when Khaled is shown the exit door by his employers, due to his religion. Their engagement suffers a blow because of the same fact. While Nour is suffering, even her friend, Myriam is not in a pleasant condition. Her marriage is being arranged to a rich man, because of financial problems. However, her to-be-husband is too old to be a suitable match for her. Myriam is seen in a miserable condition and, even the light at the end of the tunnel does not seem visible. Nour will foresee what the Nazis are trying to achieve with their policies.
