Plot : Immigration Tango is a comedy, directed by David Burton Morris. It is the story of two immigrants, who seek to prolong their stay in US and get ready to go to great lengths to achieve this purpose. Elena, a girl from Russia, is studying for her business degree in Miami. She desires to get a green card, as it would bring her a better future; since she can then work in the US. Her boyfriend, Carlos is a Columbian who shares Elena’s desire to carry on living in America. For this purpose, the couple decides to enlist the help of their best friends, an American couple- Betty, who is a law student; and Mike, who is pursuing a doctoral degree in literature. With no legal options open to the Elena and Carlos, they decide to swap partners and marry, in order to satisfy the two year probationary period. The agreement is that once the foreign couple gets their green cards, they would divorce their American partners. Things get distorted with the two couples, when they’re forced to put up the pretences not just in front of the immigration officer, but also in front of their families. Elena is forced to contemplate if her decision to stay in US was worth all the emotional turmoil that the four lives have been put through or she is wrong for what she has done!
