Plot : Hunger is a historical drama about the last six weeks of the life of the IRA activist Bobby Sands and his hunger strike against the treatment meted out to his fellow prisoners. Davey Gillen (Brian Milligan) and Gerry Campbell (Liam McMahon) are fellow IRA activists who share a cell in Belfast's infamous Maze prison and like other IRA prisoners face violence at the hands of the prison guards. The two participate in a protest, to compel Britain to recognize them as political prisoners. As the protests turn futile, Bobby Sands (Michael Fassbender) goes on hunger strike until the Irish officials acknowledge the IRA as a legitimate political organization. Even as Sands’ protest gets him recognition not only within the prison but also in the media, he finds himself having a verbal spat with a priest (Liam Cunningham) regarding the ethics and effectiveness of the strike.
