Plot : Good Night and Good Luck is a film directed by George Clooney, depicting the power of media. This black and white movie is set in the early 1950s when the threat of communism was rampant in the United States creating an atmosphere of paranoia all around. Joseph McCarthy one of the most controversial senators in U.S. history had been exploiting benefits of this growing threat in the minds of people. Standing strongly against him were veteran radio and television journalist Edward R. Murrow and his dedicated staff of CBS. The staff was headed by his co-producer Fred Friendly and included reporter Joseph Wershba. Through his CBS news program "See It Now," Murrow challenges McCarthy’s claims that a number of communists were working as spies of Soviet in the U.S. government. Firstly they defended Milo Radulovich who had been expelled from the U.S. Air Force due to his father’s subscription to a Serbian newspaper. In this raging battle for truth and justice all these three men had to suffer a number of personal losses. Finally truth prevailed and Joseph McCarthy had to quit.
