Plot : Good Hair is all about having good hair, in the African American community, that is. Seemingly an important part of looks for all, hair grooming takes a considerable part of people’s time and money. Struck by an innocent question by his little daughter, Lola, ‘ Daddy, how come I don’t have good hair’, producer and comedian Chris Rock, sets about trying to find what is considered ‘Good Hair’ in the African American community, especially amongst women. Chris Rock reports facts on the supposedly $9billion hair care industry, laced with subtle humor that makes it an interesting watch. He travels to various places, where hair is sourced and treated and how it finds its way into the barber shops. He even attends the Bronner Brothers’ annual hair convention in Atlanta. Done in a documentary style, the movie ropes in hair care industry people, stylists and celebrities, who appear as themselves and talk about their understanding of hair issues for themselves and in their community. Maya Angelou, Jason Griggers, Tanya Crumel, Kevin Kirk (the latter 3 hair battle contestants), are some of the people who appear in the movie. All in all, it is an interesting watch for all those who have wondered how somebody got that hair!
