Plot : Freedom Writers has been directed by Richard LaGravenese. The movie is based on actual diary entries of many teenagers during LA riots. It mainly focuses on an optimistic teacher who wants to keep her students away from all the bad things in the world. She wants to make a difference in the lives of these students. Woodrow Wilson High becomes the hot bed of crime as it is located in the Long Beach area disturbed by gangs. A voluntary program is introduced with the motive of keeping together Black, Latino, Asian, and White students. However, the program does not serve the purpose of healthy diversity instead it instigates war among the involved parties. On a whole, it results in regular gun shots, racial remarks, violence and lots more. In this tough situation, Erin Grewell makes attempts to change the way students think. She slowly and gradually mixes with students, tries to know them better and makes efforts to change their thoughts. While teaching students, she gets too much involved with a student. Moreover, Erin’s husband threatens her on seeing her so involved with her work. Now, it’s a dilemma for Erin, whether she chooses the students or her husband.
