Plot : Freakonomics is a story that revolves around the analysis and data interpretation of some real-life concepts in economics, in a very informative, yet hilarious way. Freakonomics is based on a novel, which is written by two economists, namely Steven D Levitt and Stephen J Dubner on how they find a logical reason behind small real-life events and happenings and then, devise some daunting and simple reactions for them. Freakonomics is the one hilariously informative movie, which shows Levitt’s experiments and findings, upon being tested on one situation at a time. One of the examples, shown in the movie, tries to find out a reason behind a sumo wrestling match. The experiment takes into consideration, a background history of two sumo wrestlers. The game includes a series of fifteen matches, where each sumo wrestler is expected to acquire the maximum number of wins in order to reach the finals. It takes an example of two sumo players, one of whom has won seven matches and lost seven of them. Another player has lost six matches and won eight of them. For the first player, it’s a do or die situation and as studied by the economists, it is observed that eighty percent of the times, it is the one in the weak situation who comes out with flying colors as it is assumed that the latter has already carved a niche for himself and has attained the apex. Freakonomics has a compilation of certain classic examples of the real day world, with the finest explanations of their possible outcomes.
