Plot : Detachment is a deeply insightful movie that gives us an unbiased view into the American education system, in a more candid way than has ever been depicted before. The movie shows us the face of modern-day education as seen through the eyes of a substitute teacher named Henry Barthes. Like most substitute teachers, Henry has a much more frank relationship with his students than the regular teachers. They aren’t afraid of him, and do not hesitate to share their deepest thoughts and darkest secrets with him. Moreover, the fact that he has a flexible routine at school gives him a chance to interact with a much wider spectrum of students and teachers, which helps him in his cause of understanding aspects of the education system that many are still unaware of. Watch Detachment online to see Henry’s journey in and out of classrooms, and his passion to know the unknown, and share it with the whole world. Henry’s life takes an interesting turn when he shifts to a failing public school, where he experiences a deep transformation taking over him. He meets three women, all of them vastly different from each other, yet with a common thread of education running through them. The first one is Meredith, who feels like a fish out of a pond, and is having trouble adjusting, much like Henry. The other one is a teacher, Ms. Madison, who is just as beautiful inside as she is on the outside. The third woman is probably the most intriguing character of the movie, a teenager Erica, who has a skewed perspective on life. See how their riveting stories entwine in this enlightening tale by Tony Kaye.
