Plot : Cold Souls, a comedy drama directed by Sophie Barthes, tells the tale of an actor whose participation in a production of Chekov's play makes him feel over-involved. The film stars Paul Giamatti as himself and is seen worrying over his analysis of Uncle Vanya. As he becomes paralyzed with anxiety he finds the answer to his deep-rooted depression when he comes across an article about a high-tech company’s declaration of having found a solution of how to alleviate suffering. The company claims that they can make their customers’ lives free from fear, doubt, and worry by deep freezing their souls. Giamatti’s eagerness to rid himself of his emotional burden of angst makes him enlist the services of the company. However, a mysterious, soul-trafficking mule borrows the stored soul of Giamatti for an ambitious soap-opera actress with little talent. Now, Giamatti is forced to make the difficult trip to St. Petersberg, to get back the soul that is rightfully his and on his way discovers the true key to happiness.
