Plot : Cloud 9, a romantic drama directed by Andreas Dresen, tells the tale of a woman who has to make a decision about her three decades old marriage. Inge (Ursula Werner) has been married to Werner (Horst Rehberg) for thirty years and even though the two still share a happy relationship, some creases have developed in the relationship. Inge works as a home-based seamstress to make some extra money and one day decides to deliver a pair of altered trousers to one of her customers, Karl (Horst Westphal), herself. Karl invites Inge inside his home where the two immediately feel drawn towards one another and make love. Later, Inge informs Werner about her infidelity as well as her desire to continue her affair with Karl. However, Werner isn't interested in an open relationship and their daughter Petra (Steffi Kuehnert) finds her mother’s behavior to be appalling. Inge now has to choose between Werner, whom she's has spent most of her life with and Karl, who livened up her life in maturity.
