Plot : Directed by Stephen Frears, Cheri is a romantic drama which is based on a novel by French author Colette. Set in Paris of the 1920’s, the story tells the tale of a love affair between a retired courtesan and a playboy. Lea (Michelle Pfeiffer) and her fellow courtesan Charlotte Peloux (Kathy Bates), meet for a chat. Soon after, Lea meets Charlotte’s playboy son, "Cheri" (Rupert Friend). The two begin a passionate and erotic affair, which continues for six years. Finally, Charlotte tries to end the affair by trying to arrange for Cheri to get married to Emee (Felicity Jones), the 18-year-old virgin daughter of another former courtesan Marie-Laure (Iben Hjejle). This irritates Lea and she goes on a vacation to Biarritz, where she takes on more young lovers to show her resentment. However, Cheri soon follows her to Biarritz, and within no time the two lovers reconcile and resume their relationship, right where they had left it!!
