Plot : Captain Abu Raed, a drama flick directed by Amin Matalqa, tells the tale of a dubious caretaker of an airport, who makes a difference in the lives of the children living in his poor neighborhood. Abu Raed (Nadim Sawalha) has cherished the dream of seeing the world, ever since he remembers. However, he could not go much farther than talking to the travelers moving through the airport or reading books about distant places. The local kids in his neighborhood believe Abu to be former pilot, as they always see him wearing a useless captain's hat. Abu, being well aware of the harsh realities that surround the innocent children, is inspired to introduce a little fascination into lives. He preserves their belief and gives in to their pleading request of narrating tales of the world outside of Amman, Jordan. As he narrates the imaginary tales to the children, in an attempt to keep the bleak reality of their lives at bay, Abu forms a bond of friendship with them.
