Plot : Brideshead Revisited is a romantic drama, directed by Julian Jarrold, and is based on a classic 1945 novel by Evelyn Waugh. Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode) has been bought up comfortably in a middle–class household. Later, during the last days of WWII, Charles, serving in the British Army, is send to a temporary base set up on the estate of Flyte family. There Charles befriends Lord Sebastian (Ben Whishaw), who has lived a privileged life. However, despite having all the comforts, Sebastian feels that he is missing something and this drives him to alcohol to get rid of his depressions. Meanwhile, Charles finds is fascinated by the grandeur of Sebastian's life and also finds himself attracted towards Julia (Hayley Atwell), Sebastian’s sister. However, the pleasant days at Flyte estate end with the arrival of Sebastian's mother, Lady Marchmain (Emma Thompson), who strongly disapproves of his son’s lifestyle. She has turned bitter since her husband, Lord Marchmain (Michael Gambon), left her to live with the beautiful Cara (Greta Scacchi).
