Plot : Born to be wild is a film that takes one through the vicissitudes of the troubled relationship between man and animals. The film tries to unravel the elements that go into that profound rapport some people seem to strike with creatures that have no voice of their own. The plot focuses on orangutans and elephants that have been deserted due to various circumstances. But then such naïve and gullible beings do have individuals in their vicinity for whom their care and nurturance is of utmost priority. The film takes one on a sojourn into the rainforests of Borneo and into the Kenyan Savannah and tracks the efforts of two dedicated animal lovers. These include Dr. Birute Galdikas, who’s a primatologist by profession, and Dame Daphne Sheldrick who’s slogging it out to preserve the endangered species of elephants. While preservation is one aspect to conserve the gene pool of the endangered species, their acclimatization is equally important. Thus, the film also throws the spotlight on the efforts that these wildlife enthusiasts undertake to get these animals well adjusted back to the life in jungles. This animal documentary opens the gateways to fresh debate that is often ensued with regards to efforts, and the rules and regulations that should be put in place to preserve our rich fauna. The documentary follows the resonant narration of Morgan Freeman. While poachers pose an alarming threat to the existence of these beings, lack of knowledge on our front adds to the woes of these animals.
