Plot : With a legend like James Cameron at the helm, there was not a doubt that Avatar would leave audiences spellbound. This epic science fiction film written and directed by Cameron was a long time coming. The Academy-award-winning filmmaker kept the 3-D blockbuster on the backburner since 1994, waiting for the right time and the technological advancements to create a futuristic experience for the audience. Set in 2154, the movie sees the human race mining a precious mineral called unobtanium on Pandora, a moon of a giant gas body, in the star system of Alpha Centauri. The expansion of the mining colony begins to threaten the existence of a humanoid species’ local tribe called Na’vi. To learn about the Na’vi race, humans create avatars, which are humans hybridised with Na’vi. The film shows the inherent addiction towards materialism that exists today, in a manner that one can relate to in one’s everyday lives. As humans launch an all out attack on Pandora to consume the resources, Jake Sully, a paraplegic former marine, with his avatar, tries to save Pandora. Watch Avatar and find out if he is successful or Pandora is forced to bend its knees in front of human greed.
