Plot : Yoo-Hoo Mrs. Goldberg is a biographical documentary directed by Aviva Kempner, based on small screen pioneer Gertrude Berg. Gertrude is known as the actress whowas not only the creator and main writer of the show but also played the role of the leading lady in The Goldbergs. Very few people today are aware of the fact that before becoming a sitcom that ruled the various cable networks from January 10, 1949 through October 19, 1954, The Goldbergs was a radio show that had been entertaining the listeners for 17 years. She definitely was one of the most talented and accomplished comediennes of the post-WWII era. The film tells how the actress heralded the entry of women into the entertainment world. Through the interviews conducted with various people including Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, actor Ed Asner, producers Norman Lear and Gary David Goldberg, and NPR correspondent Susan Stamberg, the documentary gives an insight into the life and work of this remarkable entertainer who died in 1966.
