Plot : Tony Manero, a drama flick directed by Pablo Larrain, tells the tale of a serial killer who is fanatical about one of John Travolta's characters. All Raúl Peralta (Alfredo Castro) a man in his fifties, can think of is to impersonate Tony Manero, the character played by John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. Hence, he along with a devoted group of dancers gets together every weekend, to perform at a bar on the outskirts of the city. Raul also cherishes the dream of becoming a superstar in the entertainment world. He soon gets an opportunity to fulfill his dream, when the national television declares a contest, where the participants have to impersonate Tony Manero. Raul’s desire to replicate his matinee idol's character, leads him to commit a series of crimes and thefts. Meanwhile, his dance partners are also persecuted by the secret police, as they are engaged in the subversive activities against the harsh social regime that has been forced upon the citizens under the dictatorship of Pinochet.
