Plot : The Boys: The Sherman Brothers’ Story, a documentary directed by Gregory V. Sherman and Jeff Sherman, is an attempt of looking at the dim side of the relationship shared by the Sherman brothers, Robert and Richard. In the 1960’s Robert and Richard Sherman earned a name for themselves by writing numerous optimistic hit songs for many classic children’s films like Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Even though their creative professional partnership earned them many awards, including two Oscars, the pair's appealing and cheerful songs covered a controversial brotherly relationship. The bond ultimately became so unpleasant, that their sons Jeff and Gregg were not aware of each other’s existence for many years, despite the fact that they lived only within a few blocks of one another. The documentary showcases a wide group of notable celebrities; professional peers and close friends, family members as well as the brothers themselves, who explain their journey as they trudged for eighty long years through love and partnership and loyalty and hostility.
