Plot : State of Play, an American Political thriller, is the movie version of the popular 6 part British series of the same name. The miniseries has been cut down brilliantly to give it a two hour format which was directed by Kevin Macdonald. The plotline of the movie revolves around the investigation of a journalist into the murder case of a Congressman’s, Stephen Collins (Ben Affleck), mistress. All events are set in Washington D.C, where Stephen’s research assistant and mistress (Maria Thayer), died under baffling circumstances. With her death, all the laid-to-rest secrets started emerging out. Cal McAffrey (Russell Crowe), an investigative journalist and an old friend of Collins, was called in to go to the depth of the matter. During the investigation, Cal came to know that no one can hope for integrity, love or life, when it’s a matter of billions.
