Plot : Seraphine, a biographical war drama directed by Martin Provost that is based on the events in the life of French painter Séraphine de Senlis. Séraphine Louis (Yolande Moreau), also known as Séraphine de Senlis, was a shepherdess and housekeeper who never shied away from her duties of cooking, cleaning, and ironing. But in her free time, Séraphine happily sought refuge in the natural elements with which she felt an emotional and sacred unison. She gave vent to her endless passions through painting and used animal blood, oil from church candles, and dirt pulled from the ground, to create paints. With these simple and unrefined tools, the promising artist created unique scenes of floral arrangements. Unfortunately, those around Séraphine deemed her creations to be crude and unimpressive. But her life changed when a German art critic, Wilhelm Uhde (Ulrich Tukur), saw her work for the first time. But despite the success that Uhde brought to Séraphine, she was destined to endure a future full of gloom and emotional isolation.
