Plot : Jazz in the Diamond District is a drama flick directed by Lindsey Christian. Jasmine "Jazz" Morgan (Monique Cameron) aspires to become a famous jazz singer, while her mother, who is fighting a losing battle with cancer, pleads her not to rush for a singing career at the cost of her studies. Jasmine becomes the lead singer of the District Legend Band after she impresses the audiences with her performance at an unplanned audition. Jasmine disobeys her doctor-father and goes ahead to spend her summer engrossed in the D.C. music scene. Helping her in exploring her strange new world, are her manager Gabriel Marx (Wood Harris), and the local sensation MC Flight (Andres Strong), who in spite of being somewhat dubious, has seen it all. However, Jasmine soon learns that to fulfill her ambition she has to pay a price, and is forced to redefine what success means to her.
