Plot : Directed by John Crowley, ‘Is Anybody There?’ a surprising, and very touching British drama revolves around the unlikely friendship between a burnt out magician Clarence (Academy Award Winner Michael Caine) and a 10 year old boy Edward (Bill Milner). Peter Harness penned it and is produced by David Heyman, Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf. The events are set in 1980s seaside England with Edward, an unusual youngster living at an old people’s home that is run by his parent. As his parents struggle with their personal issues the young Edward progressively become obsessed with ghosts and the afterlife and starts seeking confirmation of the same. His life takes a new turn with the arrival of Clarence, a retired magician and still grieving for his deceased wife. After the initial awkwardness, two come close and as they realize that life can be magical when lived to its hilt, Clarence comes to terms with his past and Edward learns to deal with his obsessions.
